Do your employees leave at the end of the day without formally checking in with the supervisors? Consider these ideas to cover, that take very little time, but convey a lot of potential issues to resolve.
Employee comments at the end of the day:
- Who are you waiting on in order to bill a customer for a shipment?
- Were there any irate customer calls today and if so, were they resolved by the appropriate parties (sales department)?
- Is there anything wrong you noticed with the machine you operated today?
- Was your assigned machine making more than normal amount of bad parts today? Do you know the reason why, and is it resolved (for the next operator)?
- Was there anything odd that occurred today? (i.e. lights flickering, power went down, material not delivered to the machine by shift’s end by the material handler, machine electronic display was not working properly).
- The written filed maintenance request is still on the supervisor’s desk and remains unassigned several hours after the first incident caused parts failure.
- Which operators during the last shift are causing the most delays in production?
- What tooling needs to be fixed on the 2nd shift or else no parts will be run tomorrow?
- What task did you not get done by the time you were assigned to leave? Is it important and can it wait until tomorrow?
- Before you go, is there any customer we told we would call back but did not call yet?
- Did all of the mail get taken to the post office?
- Did all of the overnight envelopes get taken to the appropriate boxes before their deadline for pickups?
