IDEA: Ask all your employees, “Who wastes supplies?” They either know or have their suspicions.

Ask your employees to help cut costs and answer the question, “Who wastes supplies?”  Tell them that many observations they or their co-workers may have will help cut down on operating costs which will improve the bottom line which ultimately finds its way out to employees in bonuses and incentives.

Ask these questions to get started:

  1. Where is excess usage in the offices, warehouse or production plant?
  2. Where are all the unused supplies  stored?
  3. Why are so many supplies on the shelves remain unused?
  4. Is there any suspected theft of supplies?
  5. Do you see supplies go home with employees?
  6. Do we buy the wrong supplies?
  7. Do more signatures need to be gotten in order to cut down the ordering?
  8. What is your idea on how to cut supplies cost?

Ask and give respondents anonymity if they wish.

Is there anything we missed?
