IDEA: All incoming shortages are worth money. Do your receiving guys find and report these?

With many trucks arriving at your facilities, the biggest potential error to occur is to have shipping shortages that are not caught before the bill of lading is signed by your person in the Receiving Department.  Ensure your receiving people do not unload trucks and then count received items later.  Shortages are questionable once the driver leaves the receiving dock and the products purchased have been moved out of sight. You want the driver to confirm that the shortages are real and were counted correctly.  He needs to see this and agree to it on the bill of lading (BOL) before your employee signs the BOL.  You want to know that all receiving personnel know how to report shortages immediately to purchasing so they can call the vendor and report the shortfall of product on the incoming truck.  You want to be certain all shortages of products purchased are reported to the Purchasing department as soon as possible for the company get the credit back from the vendor.

Is there anything we missed?
