IDEA: Ask what your foreign insurance policy covers for your company and what it does not.

Before buying a foreign insurance policy so you or your employees can travel or operate out of a foreign country, find out what the policy covers and more importantly what is excluded. Does it cover all of your machinery and equipment, accidents in cars driven by your employees, employee misdeeds abroad, theft of your products, accidents caused by non-employees on your property, require police notification, losses at sea, spoilage of your product during shipment, foreign fines imposed, deaths or injuries of foreign employees while working at your facility, injuries of outside parties on your property in a foreign country, etc? Ask your broker or agent for a list of all the policy exceptions and examples and discuss these issues with all your employees first who will be assigned to this foreign operation before these exceptions occur.

Is there anything we missed?
