GPI 300 – Accumulate and use cost cutting ideas gathered from interviewed candidates, hired or not.

Everyone has a great idea:   Every candidate you interview for various positions within your firm will know something about cutting costs, saving money, raising revenue and improving the bottom line. If they do not, you will not hire them.

Do not forget to ask for ideas:  For every candidate that comes to your facility, do not neglect to ask them specifically the question, “Tell me two or three of your specific detailed ideas to potentially improve our company’s bottom line.”  Write down their answers immediately after the interview is finished and thank them for their contribution.

Accumulate responses:   Instead of throwing away these great opportunities after months and months of interviews, accumulate and document the ideas and be sure to use the best of them.  Put them to use. Submit them to production or purchasing in order to get them started.

Enter candidates in your suggestion box contest:   If you wish, tell the candidates to write and submit their best ideas in writing on your company suggestion cards. Tell them to add their name, home address and phone number; tell them if their idea is chosen as a great suggestion, they will be paid, regardless of the outcome of their interview.  They will not miss the opportunity to make some money whether they get the job or not. Also tell them if they wish to remain anonymous, they may do so.

Make sure to tell them thanks for the great profit idea.
