GPI 407 – Offer premium car service while customers spend more money in your store.

In the front of your parking lot, designate locations for customers to come and park to order car services.  These things can be done while your shoppers are inside shopping. Have an attendant take their keys, write up the order and then give the buyer a ticket to pick up their car in an hour or two.

Car Services Offered While Shopping:

  • Oil and fluid changes.
  • Tire checks, rotated, balanced, repairs made, replacements installed or air added as needed.
  • Belts checked and changed.
  • Car cleaning, washing, waxing, exterior and
  • Run diagnostics as a checkup.
  • Paint repair, marks or scratches removed.
  • Car remains parked waiting for returning shopper.
  • Calculate a purchase discount to the participating shopper, which is available, based upon the level spent or achieved.  Note: Consider cutting the cost by various levels based upon dollars spent.  Instruct stores to ask about car services and to give participating customers discount tickets or points (car service dollars) towards money deducted off their automotive bill spent that day.

If your store is near an auto or car care center, contract with that company directly. You might have your shoppers drop the car directly there. If drivers are available, the store could shuttle them to your store and then have their car ready for them when they are finished shopping. Figure out what is more desirable for the shopper and what generates the most repeat business.
