IDEA: When raising prices, offer cheaper packaging/freight to get back near the original price.

When you must raise your prices, tell the customer about the increase but give him some options:

  • Suggest cheaper packaging
  • Suggest no packaging,
  • Suggest cheaper shipping methods (slower but cheaper)
  • Suggest no freight at all; offer him to pick it up at your facility.

He may not want any of these options but you have given him options to cut his price in exchange for these cost cutting measures.
