Add safety as an element to your incentive programs. For no accidents, give out extra money and boost the bonus plan enough to get participants’ attention. You want a lucrative program that encourages employees to warn others not to have accidents because when they get hurt, their injuries will be felt by everyone when the payout program drops.  You want employees to complain to each other about being careful and not screwing up the bonus program for others with their careless mistakes at work.
