IDEA: Stop wasting money buying packaging materials you receive elsewhere and toss every day.

Recycle packaging materials.  After you instruct your Receiving Department personnel to stop destroying packaging material when they open incoming loads of materials, instruct them to do their best to keep it in good condition and recycle it.  Have  those employees carefully unwrap all incoming packages, pallets, boxes and other containers and put those materials off to the side because you want to reuse this packaging in your Shipping department.  Take those materials to your Shipping department as often as possible. Pull out all the cardboard boxes, packaging materials, bubble-wrap, cardboard dividers, sacks, bags and other materials collected in your receiving department every day and see how much can be salvaged and used in Shipping. Consider starting a bonus program for those people involved and you will see the documented purchasing savings rise.
