Keep and teach your subordinates an overall positive attitude. Talk about not only price increases needed, bad and late shipments, bad product issues or lost customers. Also talk about the new contract with a large customer just signed today. Discuss briefly the development of a new product made by the smart guys in the company laboratory. Give praise to your production personnel who have produced 99% perfect products the past quarter. Speak about the first shipments sold out of your home state or out of the country. Talk about the compliments given to the president by the owner of a new customer just started who is delighted with the products shipped to his firm. Mention those comments are due to employees throughout the organization. Talk not only about negative issues but also the positive ones on a regular basis. You will be believed, trusted and respected more than the manager or owner who complains constantly.
