IDEA: Tell your longtime ongoing customers (you take for granted) your full capabilities. They sometimes are the last to know.

Companies sell sometimes to the same customers over and over again for several years but neglect to update them as to what has changed within the firm.  Think about doing some of these things to update current customers.

Ideas to update your current customers;

  • Give a list of all your locations (including all new ones) to your current customers.  (Example:   They knew four years ago you had three locations.  You never told them you now have six, one two blocks from one of their facilties.)
  • Give your customer’s buyers a list of all the product lines you sell.
  • Give your cusotmer’s buyers a list of all the services you provide.
  • Include with your invoices a line card of everything your firm does to be forwarded to the purchasing department.
  • Send a line card with your response to ‘requests for quotes’ to show the buyer what all your firm can provide or do for him.
  • Post on your electronic sign out front everyday different products or brands you carry.  Vary the message daily.  Give the assignment to someone who will change it.  You will train observers to look for the new message daily (like churches do to people driving past their parsonages.)
  • Include a line card with your packing lists that accompany shipments to customers.
  • Tell your sales people to hand out line cards and product listings WITH their business cards.
