IDEA: When you screw things up for the customer, man up, call him and admit it fast!

Be honest at all times with your customers.  You are trying to keep them so do not drive them away because they cannot trust your sales person or anyone else in the organization.  Tell them bad news and do it quickly. If a shipment is screwed up, call them and tell them what has happened and let them know the time frame for the replacement order.  Customers need to see how you react in adverse situations.  Show them your best and honest side.
